Cover Supervisor - Secondary - Barnet - Permanent
Location: Barnet, London
Salary: 25,000 - 30,000 per annum
Contract: Full-time, Term-time only, Permanent

About the Role

The school is seeking to appoint a committed, adaptable, and confident Cover Supervisor to join their dedicated team on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and is considering a career in education. It is particularly suitable for graduates interested in teacher training, experienced school support staff, or individuals with experience in youth work or tutoring.

Key responsibilities include:
Supervising whole classes in the absence of the regular class teacher, ensuring that students stay engaged and complete the work set.
Maintaining a calm, focused, and respectful learning environment, managing behaviour in line with school policies.
Assisting students with questions about their work and encouraging them to achieve their best.
Providing feedback to teaching staff on student progress, behaviour, and any incidents during cover lessons.
Supporting departments with administrative tasks and general classroom assistance when cover is not required.
Playing an active role in the wider life of the school and always promoting its values.

About You
We are looking for candidates who:
Have experience working with young people in an educational, youth, or similar setting (desirable but not essential).
Are confident managing classes of secondary-aged students and promoting positive behaviour.
Have excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
Are flexible, proactive, and able to handle change with a positive attitude.
Have a genuine interest in education and supporting the progress and wellbeing of students.
Hold a good standard of education, including GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
