Job summary

Randstad UK is recruiting Cover Supervisors to support Liverpool, Sefton and Knowsley schools, stepping in when teachers are absent and following set lesson plans.

You will help manage behaviour, assist pupils and maintain a positive learning environment, with DBS Update Service or willingness to apply, and right to work in the UK.

Qualifications

• Degree qualification or substantial experience working with young people.
• An enhanced DBS on Update Service (or willingness to apply).
• Right to work in the UK.
• Strong communication, presence, and classroom management skills.

Responsibilities

Are you looking to gain valuable classroom experience before taking on teacher training, or are you an experienced educator seeking flexible work across Liverpool secondary schools?

We are actively recruiting adaptable, confident, and enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to work with our partner secondary schools across Liverpool, Sefton, and Knowsley. As a Cover Supervisor, you will lead classes in the absence of regular teaching staff, overseeing set work and maintaining a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise secondary school classes (Key Stages 3 and 4) using pre-prepared lesson plans provided by the school.
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively, enforcing school policies to ensure a safe and productive environment.
• Assist students with their work, answering queries and keeping them on task.
• Collect completed work at the end of lessons and pass feedback to permanent staff.
• Maintain high standards of pupil engagement and well-being.

What We Are Looking For

• A degree qualification or substantial experience working with young people (e.g., sports coaching, youth work, tutoring, teaching assistant roles).
• Strong communication, presence, and classroom management skills.
• Flexibility, adaptability, and reliability.
• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
• Right to work in the UK.
