GSL Education are seeking a confident and adaptable Cover Supervisor (CS) to work across schools in Heanor from September 2025. As a Cover Supervisor, this role is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, or experienced classroom supervisors looking to gain valuable experience in education while supporting pupils’ learning.

As a Cover Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering pre-planned lessons across various subjects in the absence of the class teacher.
  • Managing classroom behaviour and ensuring a positive learning environment.
  • Engaging students with lesson content and maintaining their focus on tasks.
  • Following school policies on behaviour, attendance, and safeguarding.
  • Providing feedback to teaching staff on pupil engagement and progress.

To be a Cover Supervisor, you should:

  • Have experience working with young people, ideally within a school setting.
  • Be confident in managing classroom behaviour and adapting to different year groups.
  • Possess strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
  • A full, up-to-date CV with explanations for any gaps in employment over the last 10 years.
