Cover Supervisor – Core Subjects – Sheffield | Elevate Supply

Elevate Supply is seeking a confident and committed Cover Supervisor to support the delivery of core subjects (English, Maths, and Science) across several of our fantastic partner secondary schools in Sheffield. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone looking to gain classroom experience, particularly in key academic subjects, and make a real impact on student learning.

???? Pay Rate: £90 – £110 per day, depending on experience.

Contract: Full-time, starting after May half term, continuing through to the end of the academic year, with the possibility of long-term opportunities from September 2025.

The Role

As a Core Subject Cover Supervisor, you’ll be stepping into classrooms across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 to deliver pre-set lessons in the absence of the class teacher. You’ll help keep pupils on task, support their understanding where appropriate, and maintain a positive learning environment.

Your Responsibilities

• Supervise students in lessons across English, Maths, and Science
• Ensure pupils are focused, engaged, and completing the assigned work
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively and according to school policies
• Provide basic subject support and guidance when required
• Report back on student progress and behaviour to teaching staff
• Build positive relationships with students and staff
  
  

What We’re Looking For

• A degree or strong subject knowledge in a core subject is advantageous
• Previous experience working with secondary-aged students (e.g., tutoring, youth work, classroom support)
• A calm, adaptable, and professional approach to classroom management
• Confidence supervising classes across KS3 and KS4
• An enhanced DBS on the update service is required (or willingness to obtain one through Elevate Supply)
• Available full-time from after the May half term
