Job summary

Weldon Village Academy, part of Meridian Trust, seeks a dedicated Cover Supervisor to fill in for teachers and deliver engaging lessons. The role supports 32.5 hours per week during term-time plus training days, fostering a dynamic learning environment for pupils across years 7–11.

The successful candidate will be flexible, patient and organised, able to adapt between subjects, work well in a team, and maintain confidentiality while contributing to student achievement.

About this Role

Salary: Meridian Support StaffPay Scale Grade 6 point 7 to 12

Actual Annual Salary - £19,918 to £21,574 (FTE £26,403 to £28,598) (This figure will increase once the April COL payment has been applied)

Hours of Work: 32.5 hours per week - Monday, Thursday, Friday 8.30am-3.15pm, Tuesday 8.30am-3.45pm and Wednesday 8.15am-3.45pm

Term time plus 5 dedicated staff training days (39 weeks)

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, independent and motivated Cover Supervisor to join our growing school, which opened in September 2023.

The role is to deliver effective lessons when teachers are unavailable to teach their normal lessons. The teachers plan and prepare the lesson, so you don't have to be an expert, but it requires great flexibility, confidence and adaptability; the ability to be able to switch between teaching maths one lesson and history the next! The successful candidate will be organised, friendly, have an excellent manner with young people and a good sense of humour.

We have Year 7, 8, 9, 10 (with a one class cohort of Year 11) in our intake this year but will eventually grow to a school of 1500 students, including a 6th form of 300 students. The ideal candidate should be motivated, flexible and an innovative and inspiring presence; someone with vision and an unshakeable passion for supporting students' needs and developing a love and passion for learning in young people.

We are not seeking an expert in every subject, rather someone who can deliver a wide variety of lessons across the curriculum with confidence and empathy. It is a challenging but highly rewarding post that allows you to become an integral part of the team quickly and allows you to gain meaningful experience rapidly within a school.

• Good educational background with excellent written and oral communication skills
• Experience of subject background and working within the education sector
• Knowledge of using different IT software such as Microsoft Office, Email

• Positive and enthusiastic approach with the ability to work within a team as well as on own initiative.
• Knowledge of the need for confidentiality and awareness of child protection issues
• Flexibility of working hours, committed and reliable with excellent timekeeping
