Job description

We are currently seeking a confident and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join a team of secondary school staff in Hertfordshire.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning in the absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged, focused, and supported during their lessons. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as a Cover Supervisor:

Deliver pre-set work to classes across a range of subjects

Manage classroom behaviour and ensure a calm, safe learning environment

Ensure students remain on task and complete the work set

Report back to the relevant teacher or senior leader on progress and incidents

Uphold school policies and procedures at all times

Support students with queries about the work where appropriate

Previous experience working in a school or with young people (desirable)

Strong classroom management and interpersonal skills as a Cover Supervisor.

A proactive, flexible, and professional attitude

The ability to engage and motivate students aged 11–16

A degree or relevant qualifications (preferred but not essential)

An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
