Job description

We are looking for a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor to join a secondary school team.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will oversee classes during the short-term absence of the regular teacher, ensuring that students remain on task and complete the work set. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, or anyone with experience working with young people who would like to gain valuable classroom experience. Beginning September 2025.

Duties as a Cover Supervisor:

  • Supervise lessons across a range of subjects, delivering pre-prepared work.

  • Maintain a calm, focused and productive classroom environment.

  • Manage student behaviour in line with the school’s policies.

  • Respond to students’ questions about the set work where appropriate.

  • Report back to teaching staff about student progress and any issues that arise.

Ideal Cover Supervisor:

  • Be confident managing groups of secondary-aged students.

  • Have good communication and classroom management skills as Cover Supervisor

  • Be flexible and able to adapt to different subjects and year groups.

  • Be reliable, punctual and well-organised.

  • Experience working with young people is desirable but not essential.
