Job description

A Secondary School in Plymouth is currently looking for a Cover Supervisor to join them for flexible cover. The school would ideally like someone to start this term, for a full/part-time opportunity that runs from Monday to Friday between 8.30-3.30. The specific days can vary; however, there is consistent work available for the right candidate.

The school regularly requires Cover Supervisors to oversee classes across KS3 and KS4. Cover work will typically be prepared and left by the Class Teacher, but a good general understanding of most subjects would be beneficial.

They are seeking Cover Supervisors who are flexible and adaptable to different classes. You must be confident in teaching across KS3 and KS4 and be intuitive to handle pre-planned lessons with ease. While teaching qualifications are not necessarily required, extensive experience working in schools is preferred. A degree in a specific subject, such as Maths, would be advantageous.

What will you do as a Cover Supervisor?

  1. Supervise students actively, providing clear instructions to keep them on task and addressing any queries.
  2. Communicate effectively to keep students engaged during cover lessons.
  3. Manage behaviour according to school policies, promoting positive conduct.
  4. Display excellent organisational and time management skills, demonstrating flexibility in a busy school environment.
  5. Utilise strong Literacy, Numeracy, and communication skills to support and include all students.
  6. Collaborate with staff to maximise student outcomes.
  7. Report back to teachers as required.
