Job summary

Academics is seeking Cover Supervisors for secondary schools in the Milton Keynes/Newport Pagnell area. This role is suitable for individuals without a teaching qualification but with a degree or prior cover experience. A valid DBS (or update service) is required.

You will supervise pre-set lessons, build rapport with pupils, and ensure work is completed while following school policies. Flexible short- and long-term contracts with weekly pay are available, starting ASAP or from January 2027.

Qualifications

• DBS check up to date or on the update service required.
• Possess a degree OR have previous experience as a cover teacher / cover supervisor.
• Able to oversee pre-set lessons and manage a class in the absence of the main teacher.

Responsibilities

• Ensure pupils stay on task and complete work as set by the teacher.

Cover supervisors are essential unqualified cover teachers who are able to take the responsibility of the full-time class teacher if the full-time class teacher is absent.

We are working with a range of secondary schools across Newport Pagnell, Milton Keynes who are looking for confident, professional and dedicated people to work as Cover Supervisors in their schools to provide short-term and daily cover for teachers.

This is a great opportunity to work on a flexible basis and gain experience with secondary schools.

The Cover Supervisor / Cover teacher role:

• Expected to oversee pre-set lessons in the absence of the classroom teacher. (no planning, marking)
• Need to be able to quickly build rapport with students, have good behaviour management skills, and be willing to cover a range of subjects if necessary.
• Not be required to deliver the lesson itself but you must ensure the pupils are on task and complete the work set by the teacher.
• Need to manage behaviour in line with the school policy so you must be confident and have a strong, firm, but fair approach.

Salary will be determined by the successful candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, and will be in accordance with the client's pay policy.
