Job description

Cover supervisor The Grammar School at Leeds•Leeds, UK

Contract: Permanent, full-time

Term-time only + 5 days

Salary: £24,022 per annum

Hours: 40 hours per week

Start date: As soon as possible subject to recruitment checks

We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join our Senior School team and play an important role in supporting pupils' learning and the smooth running of the school.

Working with pupils aged 11-18, you will supervise classes during teacher absence, ensuring that work set by teaching colleagues is completed in a calm, purposeful and positive learning environment. You will build strong relationships with pupils, establish clear expectations and support positive engagement and behaviour. The role may also include delivering PSHE lessons using materials and resources provided by the school.

The successful candidate will be a confident and effective communicator with strong organisational and classroom management skills. You will be able to establish positive relationships with young people, motivate and encourage them in their learning, and respond calmly and flexibly to a range of situations. You will be confident working independently while exercising sound judgement about when to seek advice or support.

Experience of working with young people aged 11-18 would be advantageous, as would a degree or equivalent qualification. Above all, we are looking for someone who is reliable, approachable and resilient, with a genuine commitment to supporting pupils and helping them to make the most of their time in school. Good digital skills and GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics at grade 4/C or above are essential.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and collaborative school community and to gain broad experience of working with pupils across a wide range of subjects and age groups. When classroom cover is not required, you will contribute to the wider life of the school through supervision duties, support for examinations, trips and other activities as required.

You will share our commitment to safeguarding, equality and diversity, and to creating a safe, inclusive and stimulating environment in which every pupil is encouraged to thrive.
