Job summary

Great Yarmouth Charter Academy, part of Inspiration Trust, invites applications for a Cover Supervisor to supervise classes when teachers are absent and to support teaching and learning across a 39-week calendar.

The role requires strong behaviour management, good numeracy and literacy, and the ability to communicate effectively with pupils, families and staff. A September start is preferred, with onboarding completing before then.

Qualifications

• GCSE grade C or NVQ 3 in Maths and English.
• Proficient use of technology to support teaching and learning.
• Experience teaching or in learning environments covering groups or classes.
• Strong verbal and written communication with pupils, parents and staff.
• Experience in assessing student progress and contributing to assessments.
• Knowledge of SEN needs in academic settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality supervision of classes to cover short-term absence.
• Support general curriculum planning and administration.
• Procure and develop curriculum and enrichment resources.
• Implement safeguarding policies to promote welfare of students.

Salary: Support Staff Pay Scale F: £25,120 to £27,249 pro-rata per annum (Actual) (£28,598 - £31,022 full time/full year equivalent)

This role will be based at Great Yarmouth Charter Academy, Salisbury Road, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, NR30 4LS.

Great Yarmouth CharterAcademy isseekingto appoint an enthusiastic,reliableand responsible person to work as a Cover Supervisor to provide cover for whole classes whilst covering the absence of teachers to allow them to carry out professional duties and training.

WhatYou’llBe Doing

• To providehigh qualitysupervision of classes to cover short-term absence of the regular teacher
• To providehigh qualitygeneral curriculum support including planning and administration
• To provide effective and efficient development / procurement of curriculum and enrichment resources
• To implement the academy's safeguarding policy, following procedures for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people

About You:

You will be someone withstrong communicationand behaviour management skills, confidence, patience, and adaptability. You will be able to remain calm under pressure, build positive relationships with students, and effectively supervise a class by delivering set work and managing classroom behaviour.

• Very goodnumeracy/literacy skills/GCSE grade C (or NVQ 3 equivalent) in Maths and English
• Proficient use of technology and understanding of its use in supporting effective teaching and learning
• Experience of teaching (or other relevant learning environments) covering groups or whole classes
• Ability to communicate clearly and sensitively, both orally and in writing, with pupils, parents/carersand staff
• Basic experience of assessing student progress and contributing to the assessment process.
• Knowledge of the needs of SEN students in academic surroundings
