Job summary

Vision for Education is seeking Cover Supervisors to work in SEN schools across the Dudley area. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience while making a real difference to the lives of young people.

Join our team to deliver pre-planned lessons, support students with diverse needs, and help maintain a positive learning environment. DBS checks and references are required; prior experience is beneficial.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and rapport-building skills with students and staff.
• Ability to follow pre-planned lessons and adapt to classroom needs.
• Experience with safeguarding procedures and inclusive education practices.

Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Manage the classroom to keep students engaged and focused on learning.
• Encourage and support students with a range of Special Educational Needs.
• Promote a positive, inclusive learning environment for every student.
• Use positive behaviour management strategies to maintain a safe, productive classroom.
• Follow school policies, safeguarding procedures, and health and safety guidelines.
• Provide clear feedback on lessons and student progress to staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Classroom Leadership:

• Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Manage the classroom effectively, ensuring students remain engaged and focused on their learning.

Student Support:

• Encourage and support students with a range of Special Educational Needs.
• Promote a positive, inclusive learning environment where every student can succeed.

Behaviour Management:

• Use positive behaviour management strategies to maintain a safe and productive classroom.
• Respond confidently and professionally to a variety of classroom situations.

Policy Adherence:

• Follow school policies, safeguarding procedures, and health and safety guidelines at all times.
• Ensure a structured and supportive environment for all students.

Effective Communication:

• Work closely with teaching staff and school leaders, providing clear feedback on lessons and student progress.
• Build positive relationships with staff, students, and the wider school community.

About you:

• Have previous experience working with children and young people with a range of special educational needs, such as learning difficulties, autism and looked after children.
• Suitable qualifications such as Youth Work, Health and Social Care or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools are desired but not essential.
• Have strong communications skills with the ability to quickly build rapport with students
• Able to obtain suitable references and a DBS check.
