This is the Vision Statement of James Brindley Academy.
Many of our young people have gaps in their education. You will need to have a creative approach to
teaching to reduce the impact of educational disadvantage, enabling all our Young People to access
learning and make expected progress.
We are looking for a Cover Supervisor, with experience in working with SEN young people. The role
involves supervising whole classes in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring that the young people
engage in the learning activity and that they behave well. We strive to implement creative teaching
strategies to reduce the impact of educational disadvantage, enabling all our Young People to access
learning. You should be passionate about developing and supporting the needs of the whole child and
committed to enabling all young people to thrive. We are looking for candidates with at least a Level 3
in a relevant field along with minimum GSCE 4 – 9 in English and Maths, or equivalent.
James Brindley is a stand-alone Academy based in a wide variety of locations across the City of
Birmingham. During a school year, we educate over 3,000 young people for periods ranging from a
few days in hospital to several years in one of our teaching centres. Many of our young people have
complex medical needs and many have been out of education for a significant period prior to joining
us.
We offer a full-time curriculum to young people from EYFS to KS5 and our aim is always to enable them
to ‘close the gap’ and to exceed expected progress during the time they are with us.
