Support Learning: Respond to general queries from students regarding the pre-set work, helping them access materials and stay engaged, but without providing subject-specific teaching.
Administrative Duties: Register student attendance and leave detailed, accurate notes for the returning teacher regarding the lesson progress, work completed, and any specific student behaviour issues.
School Ethos: Act as a positive role model, promoting the school's values and maintaining high expectations for all students.
The ideal candidate will have:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly with teenagers.
Strong behaviour management skills and the confidence to lead a classroom of secondary students.
Previous experience working with groups of young people (this could be from a school, youth work, coaching, or similar setting).
A degree is advantageous, particularly for those considering future teacher training.
Reliability, punctuality, and a flexible approach to working across different subject areas daily.
A firm commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
A vital role supporting the daily operations and continuity of education in a secondary school.
Excellent experience in a classroom environment-ideal preparation for teacher training (PGCE/SCITT).
Opportunities for professional development and training.
Competitive salary/daily rate.
This is an ongoing, permanent role (or fixed-term, dependent on requirements).
