GSL Education is seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor (CS) to join a vibrant secondary school in Barnsley. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain valuable classroom experience while supporting students in their learning journey. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who have completed their training placements are encouraged to apply.

About the Role:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of lessons in the absence of the regular teacher. You will oversee students, deliver pre-planned lessons, and maintain a positive learning environment. This role is ideal for those considering a future in teaching or seeking experience within a school setting.

Key Responsibilities of Cover Supervisor (CS):

1. Supervise whole classes during teacher absences, ensuring students remain engaged and on task.
2. Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans across a range of subjects.
3. Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
4. Support students with their learning and provide guidance when needed.
5. Monitor and record student progress, reporting back to teaching staff.
6. Assist with the preparation of teaching materials and classroom resources.

Requirements of Cover Supervisor (CS):

1. Experience as a Cover Supervisor or in a similar role is desirable.
2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
3. Ability to engage and motivate secondary school students.
4. A confident and adaptable approach to classroom management.
5. A passion for education and supporting young learners.
6. Strong organisational and time-management skills.

To work with GSL Education as a Cover Supervisor (CS), you will need:

1. The right to work in the UK.
2. An up-to-date CV with two references from the last two years.
3. An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
