Job description

A Secondary School in Bolton is seeking a highly organised individual to manage daily teaching cover, coordinate educational visits, and oversee the planning of school events and the school calendar on a permanent basis from September.

Location: Bolton
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Permanent, Term time only
Hours: 7:30-4 Monday-Thursday, 7:30-12 Friday
Salary: £27,269 - £29,903 DOE

Key Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Manage the daily cover rota, ensuring fair allocation and adherence to budget and policy
  • Liaise with HR on staff absences and arrange internal or agency cover as needed
  • Coordinate room changes and ensure cover for staff attending meetings, events, or trips
  • Maintain cover records and produce weekly reports
  • Manage ParentPay and liaise with finance on supply costs
  • Support trip leaders with planning and compliance (risk assessments, safeguarding, etc.)
  • Oversee the online trip approval system
  • Book transport/venues and ensure all admin and finance processes are followed
  • Plan and coordinate key school events (e.g., Open Evenings, Sports Day)
  • Support extra-curricular activity planning
  • Maintain the school calendar and manage room bookings for meetings and exams
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold school policies (safeguarding, H&S, data protection)
  • Provide admin support and contribute to a collaborative office environment
  • Oversee the franking machine and photocopier maintenance
Key Skills/Experience:
  • Experience working within a school office environment is desired
  • Experience in cover management would be ideal
  • Strong organisational, planning, and administrative skills
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
