Job Description:

Position Overview: Themis Recruit is seeking a dedicated solicitor with a minimum of one year PQE to represent clients in Court of Protection matters.

You will join a dynamic team recognized in the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners. Our client prides itself on providing holistic services to vulnerable clients, such as those facing eviction or lacking essential community care services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage assigned casework efficiently and promptly.
  • Analyse legal issues and advise clients on appropriate actions.
  • Maintain clear communication with clients, ensuring compliance with care standards.
  • Handle correspondence, negotiations, and advocacy as required.
  • Record time accurately and ensure timely billing.
  • Ensure compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements.
  • Stay updated on legal developments relevant to community care and Court of Protection law.
  • Support department operations and billing through administrative tasks.
  • Provide supervision and escalate matters as needed.
Requirements:
  • Ideally 2-3 PQE in Court of Protection law, including:
    • Challenging assessments and care plans.
    • Ensuring local authority safeguarding compliance.
    • Identifying judicial review challenges and Court of Protection cases.
    • Acting for 'P' through a litigation friend or family member.
  • Strong communication skills for effective client engagement.
  • Excellent oral, written, and telephone communication abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and target-oriented experience.
  • Commitment to access to justice.
  • Current Practising Certificate.
  • Experience with Legal Aid funding and CCMS system.
  • Familiarity with privately-funded work is a plus.
