We welcome application from all areas of the community and particularly encourage applications from People of Colour and people who are disabled, who are currently underrepresented in our workforce.

Our commitment to Safeguarding

AUB is committed to maintaining the highest standards of safeguarding. We take all reasonable steps to ensure the safety and welfare of children, young people, and adults at risk who engage with us, as well as those who work with them.

About the role

AUB’s renowned Bournemouth Film School (BFS) is seeking an inspiring leader to spearhead our vibrant, sector-leading BA (Hons) Film Production course. This role offers a unique opportunity to guide a dynamic academic team on a flagship program that is strategically positioned to play a significant role within the UK film production industry and beyond.

This appointment comes at a pivotal moment for BFS, as we strategically refine our vision, academic objectives, and organisational structure. The successful candidate will work closely with the Dean of the School and fellow Course Leaders across film-related disciplines to shape and deliver an innovative, future-focused, and industry-aligned teaching and learning programme.

Our goal is to equip students with practical, hands-on skills and deep industry insights within a creative environment, culminating in high-end, annually produced BFS Film Productions that mirror the standards and structure of the professional sector. This integrated approach seamlessly combines academic teaching with real-world industry practices, effectively closing skills gaps and significantly enhancing graduates’ employability and readiness for careers in the creative industries.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced academic capable of driving curriculum innovation by integrating practice and contextual learning. They should foster collaboration across specialisms, departments, and courses, and pioneer new teaching and assessment methods. Additionally, they will focus on expanding external partnerships by leveraging existing connections with industry bodies such as ScreenSkills, CILECT, and the British Film Institute through our innovative Funding Futures scheme. These initiatives will broaden student opportunities, deepen industry engagement, and ensure graduates are well-prepared for success in the rapidly evolving creative industries.

We seek a candidate with broad experience in film production and a strong, forward-thinking understanding of emerging technologies. Proven ability to manage organisational or departmental change is highly desirable, as are excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with staff and students in various settings.

Our benefits

In meeting your performance expectations, each year you’ll have a salary increase in line with the grade of your role. As well as this there is an annual cost of living increase. AUB provides generous holiday entitlement, and you will be enrolled in the Local Government Pension Scheme (professional services staff) or the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (academic staff) from day one of employment. Along with subsidised bus travel, cycle to work and annual savings schemes, our broad range of benefits can be explored on the AUB careers website.

AUB has an agile working policy, and flexible working can be considered. If you require support with your application or have any questions about the role or recruitment process, please email us. If you are disabled, we are committed to supporting you with any reasonable adjustments you require, so please email us and we’ll be in touch.
