Job description

Are you passionate about providing high-quality education to children and young people without a school place? The County Interim Home Tuition Team is seeking a dedicated Team Leader to manage and coordinate our use of Alternative Providers, ensuring exceptional teaching and learning experiences.

About the Role

The County Interim Home Tuition Team provides tuition to children and young people who are without a school place. The role of the Team Leader will be to lead, coordinate, and manage the services' use of Alternative Providers (AP). This will include promoting and ensuring the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning experiences for children and young people who come under the remit of the County Interim Home Tuition Team.

The post will be offered on a full-time basis of 32 hours per week on Teachers' Terms and Conditions and will attract a minimum TLR2 allowance. The contract will be fixed-term for 12-18 months, with the length of the contract dependent upon the successful candidate's agreed start date.

The successful candidate's time will primarily support management roles, supporting the service's use of external Alternative Providers and internal tutors. The successful candidate will work alongside the Interim Home Tuition Coordinator, current Team Leaders, and the service's Strategic Lead. There may also be opportunities for direct teaching of children and young people as time allows.

A key part of the role will be to organize, monitor, and manage the service's use of unregulated alternative providers, ensuring education quality and suitability of new suppliers, and maintaining regular contact with service users and APs. Management duties may include conducting appraisals and teaching observations of team members, ensuring consistency, and providing high-quality training to develop the County Interim Home Tuition Team's teaching and learning strategies.

For internal applicants, this role may be offered as a secondment opportunity. Internal candidates should notify their manager if applying for this role as a secondment.

About You

We are looking for individuals with excellent leadership skills and thorough knowledge of the Unattached Teacher Appraisal Procedure. Qualified Teacher Status is essential, and it is expected that the successful candidate is post-Threshold of the Teacher's Threshold Progression.

A thorough knowledge of the Teacher Standards in key areas and the ability to adapt this to suit the County Interim Home Tuition Team, considering guidance for 'unattached teachers,' will be essential.
