Job summary

Staffordshire County Council is seeking a Countryside Development Officer to drive project development, procurement and contract management across countryside sites. You will report to the Development Manager and work with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver improvements and service development.

The role is fixed-term for 18 months, predominantly office-based with flexible and hybrid working options, and occasional travel across the county to countryside sites and meetings.

Qualifications

• Degree level qualification in an environmental discipline or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of practice, policy and legislation relevant to country parks.
• Significant experience in project development and management within the environment sector.
• Experience with financial and contract procurement and management.
• Experience in researching and analysing data to shape project delivery.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking research and analysis and presenting clear findings and recommendations.
• Developing written project proposals, reports and funding bids with colleagues.
• Commissioning studies and on-site projects; preparing procurement documents and overseeing processes.
• Managing contracts for commissioned studies; supporting lease and licence management for countryside sites.
• Supporting the development and review of Environment & Countryside processes and procedures.
