The Opportunity

Due to an internal promotion, Abbott Rapid Diagnostics are recruiting a Country Manager UK & Ireland to support the Cardiometabolic business as part of the Southwest Europe region.

What You’ll Do

As a Country Manager UK & Ireland, you will develop & lead the execution of strategy in the Cardiometabolic Rapid Diagnostics business unit.

The role is mainly field-based with a 50% travel requirement across the region and in European countries. Presence in Abbott’s UK headquarters in Maidenhead for business meetings would be frequent.

More specifically:

  1. Manage Third Party Distributors and relevant external agencies in the execution of the sales and business development strategy.
  2. Deliver short- & long-term volume, sales, profit & market share goals by developing and delivering Organisational Excellence within our UK/Ireland Commercial organization.
  3. Ensure accurate and efficient coordination and administration of all business operations.
  4. Develop a high-performance team with strength-in-depth ensuring succession planning where appropriate for all key positions/skill sets.
  5. Effectively manage all UK/Ireland’s sales efforts in support of our business goals.
  6. Identify potential targets for strategic partnerships/alliances.
  7. Take ownership and manage the country P&L, highlighting risks and opportunities, and balancing product forecasts in line with financial reviews.

Required Qualifications/Profile

  1. Experience in progressively senior commercial roles in medical devices or diagnostics in the U.K.
  2. Previous front-line sales management experience.
  3. Business or Science degree.
  4. Excellent knowledge of the UK and Ireland healthcare systems and larger ecosystems.
  5. Established network with KOLs and a strong ability to influence at senior stakeholder levels.
  6. Track record as an effective people manager and leader.
  7. Deep understanding of organisational development related to market structure and needs.
  8. Able to travel up to 60% of their time, with occasional travel to other European countries.
