Job Summary:

The Counter Sales Associate/Back-up CDL Driver will act as a Sales Associate for the retail store by selling products to businesses and industrial customers. The associate will also fill in as a backup driver when needed.

  1. Sell industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding supplies, and related equipment to customers.
  2. Stock shelves.
  3. Assist customers through email, telephone, and walk-ins.
  4. Solicit sales from new and existing customers, managing paperwork for future reference.
  5. Coordinate cylinder and hardgoods deliveries, maintain showroom displays.
  6. Assist customers with loading/unloading cylinders, provide guidance on equipment use and materials needed.
  7. Foster strong customer relations, address inquiries, and provide cost/ordering/delivery information.
  8. Monitor and maintain proper hardgoods and cylinder levels to minimize emergencies.
  9. Manage accounts receivable, discuss past-due accounts, and collect payments.
  10. Ensure accurate completion of paperwork, including coding, costing, and pricing.
  11. Maintain a professional appearance, adhere to safety and administrative procedures.
  12. Periodically deliver products to various business, industrial, and medical gas customers.
  13. Act as Backup Driver when necessary.
  14. Operate equipment like forklifts as required.
  15. Support inventory management, housekeeping, displays, and demonstrations.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Must have at least one year of CDL Class A or B driving experience with like equipment or graduated from an accredited truck driving school.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the Company.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and to calculate percent.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
