About the Position:
As a Registered/Certified Substance Abuse Counselor I, you will support the community by delivering face-to-face rehabilitative programming services within the Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program (ISUDT).
What You Will Do:
- Deliver treatment programming services to participants and conduct group and/or individual sessions.
- Implement scheduled program curriculum effectively. Lead and participate in face-to-face group and individual meetings utilizing motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and other therapeutic processes.
- Engage participants daily, reinforce group rules, and set expectations for participation and completion.
- Work directly with participants to develop and implement treatment/action plans and educate about supportive networks upon returning to the community.
- Review treatment plans, evaluate and record progress, and observe visible changes in participants' appearance, behavior, and demeanor.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential participant records. Evaluate and document participant progress.
- Complete all documentation requirements, summarizing background, treatment plans, and recovery outcomes.
- Prepare concise reports and plans consistent with Amity standards and compliant with clinical and administrative rules.
- Liaise with transition/reentry staff, plan, and prepare transitional documents as directed by CDCR for community program activities.
- Collaborate with CDCR, DRP, CCHCS, and institution staff. Support and collaborate with co-faculty, including Supervisors, Directors, and Regional Directors.
- Participate in monthly, block, cross-training, curriculum, and technical assistance trainings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Will Bring:
- Minimum 6 months of experience providing SUDT services as a certified AOD Counselor.
- Current AOD Certification recognized by DHCS or registration with BBS or an AOD certifying body, depending on education level.
- Understanding of causes, symptoms, and effects of substance abuse, including behavioral, psychological, physical, and social aspects.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and communication skills.
- Operational knowledge of MS Office Suite and ARMS (preferred).
- Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity under pressures related to substance abuse treatment.
- Demonstrate ethical behavior to uphold professional standards and safeguard participants.
- Protect and maintain the health, safety, welfare, and confidentiality of participants and records.

$24.15 - $26.25 an hour
This is a non-exempt position.
