About The Role

Placement Map

Counsellors on Placement provide emotional and therapeutic support to children and young people aged 4-18 in Place2Be partner schools. As an organization that follows the BACP ethical framework, counsellors are dedicated to improving mental health and well-being.

  • Place2Be offers high support through supervision, tailored training, and a recognized clinical placement.
  • An induction program and daily clinical supervision are provided.
  • Availability of at least one day per week for one-to-one counselling with up to 3 children.
  • Placements are term-time only, lasting one academic year, with opportunities for extension.
  • Optional workshops for professional development are available.
  • Sessions count towards accreditation hours recognized by BACP and UKCP.
  • Many staff started as placement counsellors, making it a good career step.
  • Positions are available in primary and secondary schools nationwide.

Counting your hours

All clinical hours can contribute to accreditation. Check with your course tutor if child hours are accepted for your course. If not, you may apply as a second placement.

Training

Mandatory training includes:

  • Safeguarding Induction (1 day, in person) - 19th October
  • Placement Introductory Workshop (2 days, in person) - 7th and 8th October

About You

You should be a qualified or studying towards qualifications such as:

  • Diploma in Counselling (Level 4 or above), or a Certificate Course in Counselling of 9-12 months if in the first year.
  • Degree, MSc, or MA in Counselling, Counselling Psychology, or Psychotherapy, with relevant experience if in the first year.
