Job summary

Phoenix Futures seeks a Counsellor for our Trauma Responsive Women’s Therapeutic Community at Ophelia House, Yarnton. The role focuses on 1-to-1 counselling, group work, and trauma-informed care to support recovery from drug or alcohol misuse.

The post holder will conduct strength-based assessments, develop care plans, and contribute to evidence-based practice within a multidisciplinary team, while supervising placements and maintaining high standards of care.

Qualifications

• Qualified counsellor with accreditation.
• Experience in substance misuse field or similar.
• Experience managing a caseload and delivering CBT-based interventions.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1-to-1 counselling and group work.
• Carry out strength-based assessments and create care plans.
• Work with a multi-disciplinary team of Therapeutic workers, Nurses and support staff.
• Provide supervision of academic placements for trainees.
• Utilise theory and evidence-based literature to support practice.

We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity to join the Phoenix Futures team as a Counsellor at our new and innovative Trauma Responsive Women’s Therapeutic Community Residential Service, Ophelia House, Yarnton.

The Role

• To provide support for people with their recovery from drug or alcohol misusethrough 1 to 1 counsellingand group work.
• The post holder will also carry outstrength-based assessments, and work with individuals to create care plans, and promote visible recovery.
• The post holder must work as part of amulti-disciplinary teammade up of Therapeutic workers, Nurse’s, and support staff.
• Provide supervision of academic placements ensuring that trainees acquire the necessary skills, competencies, and experience to contribute effectively to good mental health care and to contribute to the assessment and evaluation of such competencies.
• You will be able toutilise theory, evidence-based literature, and researchto support evidence-based practise in individual work and work with other team members.
• To play a key role in the smooth running of the therapeutic community.

About You

• The post holder should be aqualified counsellor with accreditation.
• They should have good office IT skills and be used to working in the substance misuse field or similar.
• The post holder should be experienced managing a case load, engaging in partnership working anddelivering CBT based interventions.
