A leading company is seeking a Counsellor for their Youth Violence Intervention Programme in Birmingham. The role involves conducting psychological assessments and providing therapeutic support to young people. Redthread is a hospital-based youth work service, collaborating with NHS staff and other professionals in emergency departments. Our experienced, specialist youth workers engage with and support young people aged 11-25, aiming to reduce serious youth violence and exploitation. We support young people at pivotal moments in their lives, providing long-term, holistic support tailored to each individual.
The Counsellor will be part of the youth work team within the Youth Violence Intervention Programme in Birmingham healthcare settings. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive psychological assessments and formulations for children and young people accessing Redthread’s services. The role involves using engagement skills to facilitate short-term therapeutic interventions and maintaining a therapeutic, clinically safe environment within hospital settings.
Location: Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Heartlands Hospital Birmingham, Birmingham Children's Hospital, with travel to other Redthread sites as needed.
Hours: 21 hours per week
Salary: FTE - £35,000 (£19,864.86 pro-rata)
Contract: Permanent
