Job description

Leeds Playhouse are looking for a Costume Technician Apprentice to join us full time for 24 months from September 2025.

Do you aspire to a career in Costume, with interest in all aspects of a costume department from dressing and maintenance to cutting, sewing, making and planning, working with designers? Are you proactive with an eye for detail, passionate about how costume plays a role in storytelling, and a good team player? If so, you could join us for our new fixed-term apprenticeship opportunity.

This apprenticeship is part of the Regional Theatre Technical Apprenticeship Programme, funded by The Mackintosh Foundation, which will provide a wide-ranging opportunity to be part of the creative life of a large-scale building-based theatre organisation. This is a unique opportunity for a locally rooted Costume Technician to work in a supportive environment surrounded by a wealth of expertise; to grow, develop skills, learn from highly experienced Costume makers and Designers and build invaluable relationships across a range of production departments.

You must be over the age of 18 and locally rooted to Yorkshire for this opportunity, as well as being in the very early stages of your career in costume, as this programme is directly aimed at people who need a steppingstone into the industry.

This role is Fixed-Term for 24 months and will be full time, 40 hours per week, including one day a week attending college or training.
