Job Description

The Costs Team provides a service to our fee earners who deal with recovery of costs in contentious practice areas. Their primary aim is dealing with the preparation of bills of costs, negotiation, and advocacy within the detailed assessment of costs proceedings. Our Costs structure offers our costs lawyers an unrivalled breadth of experience, including areas of law such as personal injury, commercial litigation, family cases, and Court of Protection.

If you enjoy being part of a successful, friendly, and high-performing team, then this is the job for you. You’ll work closely with the team’s Law Costs Draftsmen, Paralegals, and Partners to ensure they have the right administrative support at all times. This is a busy and fast-paced role, requiring you to work quickly and accurately while building strong relationships with your team and clients. There is significant room for progression, and we are committed to supporting your professional development.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Preparing schedules of costs for interim payment requests and negotiations
  • Supporting fee earners with the preparation of bundles and e-filing of documents with Courts
  • Preparing electronic files for outsourcing to external suppliers when internal capacity is limited
  • Preparing narratives for inclusion within client bills, settling out the work done on the case, and dealing with client billing instructions to the Accounts team
  • Handling internal client enquiries via phone, letter, and email
  • Ensuring databases are kept up-to-date
