Job summary

TSR Legal is seeking an experienced Costs Lawyer to join its Cardiff-based costs team. You will manage a varied caseload and provide specialist advice on costs throughout litigation, including budgets, Points of Dispute, and negotiations.

The role requires strong negotiation and advocacy skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work to deadlines in a busy, specialist environment.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in contentious legal costs.
• Experience drafting Points of Dispute and Replies.
• Experience dealing with costs budgets.
• Strong negotiation and advocacy skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to manage a busy caseload and meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail with a commercial approach to costs matters.
• Ability to provide clear, practical advice to lawyers and clients.

Responsibilities

• Managing a varied caseload and providing specialist costs advice.
• Preparing and advising on costs budgets and statements of costs.
• Drafting Points of Dispute, Replies and other costs-related documentation.
• Conducting assessment proceedings and costs negotiations.
• Advising fee earners and clients on costs strategy and recovery.
• Preparing for and attending costs hearings and detailed assessment hearings.
• Dealing with costs issues arising from high-value litigation.
• Negotiating costs with opponents and pursuing settlement where possible.
• Collaborating with solicitors, paralegals and wider legal team.
