Job summary

Irwin Mitchell LLP in Manchester is seeking an experienced Costs Drafting specialist to join our national team. You will prepare Bills of Costs for Detailed/Provisional Assessment and may advocate at Court as required.

You will interact with clients, provide advice, and support fee earners, with training duties for junior members where appropriate. The role demands at least two years' experience in costs drafting.

Qualifications

• Experience in-house or with an external supplier of costs drafting services.
• Basic knowledge of legal procedures.
• Proven experience with IT systems and time-recording procedures.
• Flexible approach to changing priorities.
• Excellent communication skills and professional telephone manner.
• Ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders across the business.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Desirable: ACL qualification or CILEX Part 1 Year 1.
• Desirable: Experience in one or more legal departments.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Bills of Costs for Detailed/Provisional Assessment.
• Litigate bills through the Court process as required.
• Advocate at Court if required and as agreed with Costs Partner.
• Interact with clients, providing advice and taking instructions.
• Provide technical support to fee earners and assist in training juniors.
