Job summary

Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust seeks an Assistant Cost Accountant to join the costing service. You will support the collection, processing and validation of costing data, including PLICS and national submissions, and help develop costing methodologies to inform operational decisions.

The role involves providing costing insights, responding to queries from clinical divisions, and supporting benchmarking activities. A focus on Excel proficiency and NHS costing knowledge is essential.

Qualifications

• Five GCSEs or equivalent, including English and Maths.
• CCAB or CIMA part-qualified at certificate level, or AAT qualified.

Responsibilities

• Support collection, processing, validation and maintenance of costing data (PLICS, national submissions, SLR, costing manual).
• Help ensure compliance with national costing guidance.
• Develop costing and apportionment methodologies and provide costing insights.
• Respond to costing queries from divisions and corporate departments.
• Support benchmarking and service reviews; improve costing data quality.
