About the Role
As our second CoSTAR Foresight Lab Research Fellow at Goldsmiths, you will play a key role in delivering the industry-leading applied R&D of theCoSTAR Foresight Lab, helping fulfil Goldsmiths’ research role within the Lab’s ambitious, multi-partner research plan. You will lead and conduct research on a range of topics focused on the future of converged, advanced media production across the gaming, TV, film, performance, and digital entertainment sectors of the Creative Industries. Your role will have a particular focus on developing the Foresight Lab’s relationships with researchers (artists and engineers) in the other CoSTAR Labs, and similar labs around the UK outside the CoSTAR Network.
About the Candidate
Our ideal candidate would come with ideas to forge collaborative yet pragmatic research between CoSTAR production labs across the UK and bring challenging angles to important future-oriented study areas, such as how we navigate carbon issues, technological adoption, and resilience as a sector. A somewhat technically oriented background (e.g., having studied or worked in Computer Science or Engineering) will complement the strategic, arts, commercial, and social sciences competencies in our current Sector and Technology Foresight team. We are a very applied, interdisciplinary team and strongly value a critical perspective on futures research, embracing dynamic and iterative ways of working from first principles.
We have generous benefits – an agile working environment, 28 days’ annual leave plus 6 paid closure days (4 at Christmas and 2 at Easter) plus all Bank Holidays, great transport links, a defined benefit pension scheme, support for professional development and a broad range of wellbeing initiatives such as staff choir, running club and creative writing classes.
