NG Bailey Group is seeking a Cost Manager for MEP roles in Leeds. You will lead a cost engineering team, shape pricing strategies, and drive profitable tenders across pre-construction activities.

Qualifications

• Strong management experience on MEP projects.
• Experience leading cost engineering or estimating teams.
• Excellent commercial and financial acumen with influencing skills.
• Proven track record in cost planning, pricing strategy and risk management.
• Knowledge of procurement and supply chain best practices.
• Evidence of Design and Commercial training.
• Management and Health & Safety training.
• Professional qualifications in design/commercial disciplines desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead and Inspire: Develop the cost engineering team to hit sales and gross profit targets.
• Ensure Compliance: Maintain consistent pricing across all pre-construction activities per company processes.
• Strategize Pricing: Collaborate with Pre-Construction Leads to define pricing strategies focused on profit and client value.
• Monitor Progress: Report monthly on tenders and PCSA activities with mitigation actions.
• Collaborate: Work with teams to shape and communicate tender pricing strategies.
• Deliver Cost Planning: Provide cost planning services and maintain historic cost data.
• Market Insight: Stay updated on market pricing, competition, and stakeholders.
• Validate Quotations: Work with Procurement to ensure optimal buying strategies and supply chain compliance.
• Ensure Handover: Hand over winning bids to Operations post-contract award.
• Maintain Confidentiality: Uphold commercial confidentiality.

Your Responsibilities

What We’re Looking For

• Strong management experience or a background as a Senior Estimator on MEP projects.
• Experience leading cost engineering or estimating teams is a plus.
• Exceptional commercial and financial acumen with the ability to influence at all levels.
• Proven experience in cost planning, pricing strategy, and risk management.
• Knowledge of procurement and supply chain best practices.
• Evidence of Design and Commercial training (essential).
• Management training and Health & Safety training (essential).
• Professional Management qualification (desirable).
• Qualifications in Design and/or Commercial disciplines (desirable).
