Job description

Turner & Townsend are looking for a Cost Manager to join our Health, Science & Education team to work on a high-profile project within our London Real Estate business. The London Cost Management Health team is a highly regarded health team working on some of the largest and most prestigious health projects covering the public and private sectors. The team handles a wide and varied workload, from smaller refurbishments to large-scale hospitals. They are a key part of a broader Health, Education and Science team, offering opportunities to develop skills across sectors.

Turner & Townsend is a leading consultancy in the Health, Science & Education sector, providing industry-leading services through our expertise, processes, and knowledge. Our extensive experience and databank enable us to deliver proactive, value-added services to our clients.

Main Purpose of Role:
  1. To perform the role of the Cost Manager, responsible for end-to-end service delivery or as a key part of a larger project team on complex projects.
  2. To ensure client objectives are met through effective cost management from pre-contract to handover.
Key Experience Requirements:
  1. Knowledge and experience in healthcare and/or education sectors.
  2. Ability to lead clients through project stages from feasibility to completion.
  3. Experience with projects delivered via Two-Stage tendering.
  4. Experience working with JCT and NEC contracts.
  5. Demonstrated experience interfacing with stakeholders and being client-facing.
  6. Understanding of risks, challenges, and opportunities in public-sector healthcare.
  7. Experience producing and presenting monthly post-contract cost reports.
  8. Experience managing procurement processes effectively.
  9. Ability to negotiate and finalize accounts.
  10. Knowledge of contract administration, value engineering, and lifecycle costing.
  11. Experience with CostX or similar measurement software.
Qualifications:
  • Degree in construction, cost management, or Quantity surveying preferred.
  • MRICS qualification and/or relevant experience preferred.
  • Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters.
  • Experience in education sector projects is advantageous.
