We are currently seeking a Cost Manager / Cost Consultant with commercial awareness to join our UK Water teams. As a Cost Consultant, you will work as part of the Cost & Commercial Management team where you'll be involved in a wide range of projects from global and high-profile to small and impactful, ensuring they're delivered on time and to budget. Your expertise in planning, estimating, budgeting, and managing costs will drive growth and smarter working.

The rate at which we're seeing large-scale, unforeseen events such as floods and wildfires, is becoming more frequent. Please note, due to the requirements of our current client, travel to the East Sussex or Hampshire area 1-2 times per week is required.

  • Supporting the NEC Project Manager to administer the post-contract administration of NEC contracts, including assessment of contractual change and payments.
  • Supporting suppliers in providing accurate and validated information for project cost and financial forecasts.
  • Providing commercial support, advice, and guidance through all gateways to minimize cost and scope changes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Providing contract support, advice, and guidance.
  • Procurement support.
  • Closing out final accounts for projects varying in value from £k to £15m.
  • Participation in risk and value management meetings as required for the projects.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • In-depth technical knowledge of the specialised field, including construction processes and cost and commercial management in a consultancy setting.
  • Good NEC Contract experience with experience in the infrastructure sector.
  • Skills and experience to actively support the internal team and manage more junior staff on projects typically ranging between £k and £15m.
  • Demonstration of self-management and prioritization skills with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to influence stakeholders and third parties.
  • Pre- and post-contract experience.
  • Capable of taking a project through from inception to completion.
  • Excellent understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
