Job summary

Fusion People are recruiting a Cost Manager for a Mansfield project. This hybrid role requires two days in the office, with a day rate of £348 via umbrella and an initial 6‑month term.

IR35 status is Inside, so you’ll handle NEC project delivery and cost estimation from day one. You will prepare initial cost estimates, analyse tenders, maintain monthly forecasts, and review compensation events and payments.

Qualifications

• Experience in NEC contract delivery and cost estimation.
• Ability to analyse tender submissions and pricing structures.
• Strong cost-control mindset and data-driven approach.

Required experience: construction / NEC project delivery / cost estimation / QS and analysing tender process.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare and develop initial cost estimates for construction projects, providing accurate forecasts from project inception.
• Analyse and evaluate tender submissions, assessing pricing structures and overall value for construction projects.
• Produce and maintain monthly cost forecasts, comparing contractor projections against project budgets and identifying variances.
• Assess and manage Compensation Events (CEs) within an NEC contract environment, ensuring accurate cost control and compliance.
• Review and evaluate Applications for Payment (AFP), providing recommendations for approval or challenge where appropriate.
• Identify, analyse and utilise quality cost data from completed projects to support benchmarking, forecasting and continuous improvement initiatives.
