A national leading consultancy in Milton Keynes has an opening for a Cost Manager to join their team.

Working on a range of industry-leading schemes, they operate within sectors including education, healthcare, leisure, retail, and residential. The majority of their workload involves refurbishment, with a strong presence in the retail sector.

The role - Cost Manager

You will be part of a team of 25 in a collaborative, modern, open-plan office environment.

Your focus will be on work for a major client involving refurbishment and fit-out projects ranging from GBP2-15m, as well as managing refurbishment works for veterinary practices with values up to GBP1.8m.

The role is office/home-based with client visits approximately once a week.

Job Objectives:

  • Establishing professional relationships with clients, acting as an extension of their team
  • Subcontractor tendering and cost review
  • Providing accurate project cost monitoring, forecasting, and reporting to completion within budget
  • Proactively managing cost variance and contract cash flow, ensuring timely and correct applications
  • Collaborating with client and contractor teams to meet project KPIs, including programme performance, cost control, and value engineering
  • Negotiating and finalizing project accounts

The right person - Cost Manager

Suitable candidates will be experienced Cost Managers or Quantity Surveyors.

Experience in main contracting or consultancy is required.

Refurbishment experience (walls, ceilings, floors, M&E) is essential.

You should be accustomed to working in fast-paced, high-turnaround projects.

Relevant titles include Cost Manager, Cost Management, or Quantity Surveyor.
