Job description

Job Title: Cost Manager

Position Type: Permanent/Contract (inside IR35)

Location: Glasgow (ideally working 3 days per week in office)

About the Role

Are you a detail-oriented finance professional with a passion for cost management and reporting? We’re seeking a Cost Manager to oversee financial processes, track budgets, and ensure affordability across our project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Financial Reporting & Cost Management:
    • Support management with cost-related matters and ensure timely reporting.
    • Produce monthly cost reports and provide forecasts for the financial year and project lifecycle.
    • Monitor costs to maintain continued affordability.
  2. Stakeholder Engagement & Support:
    • Collaborate with Project & Programme Managers during Finance & Delivery Reviews.
    • Coordinate with Finance Teams to ensure supporting evidence is available.
    • Participate in monthly supplier project meetings and perform contract administration via CEMAR.
  3. Cost Engineering & Forecasting:
    • Support Cost Engineers with guidance and development.
    • Work with the Project Planner to align forecasts with the programme.
    • Participate in change control/EWN meetings.
  4. Procurement & Invoice Management:
    • Raise purchase and contract requisitions and process invoices.
    • Assess and validate invoices, advising Project Managers on queries.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in cost engineering, estimating, or project controls.
  • Experience working on complex projects within a Project Controls team.
  • Deep knowledge of cost control, analysis, and related functions.
  • Strong skills in financial forecasting, variance analysis, and reporting.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and financial systems.
