What will you be doing as our new Cost Manager?

Water and our natural environment are the foundation of life, society, and economies. The East of England has unique rivers, wetlands, and coastlines, yet it is classified as severely water stressed and faces drought and a degrading natural environment. This is due to a growing economy, the highest rate of new housing development in the UK, climate change, and being a major agricultural producer. Anglian Water’s purpose is to bring environmental and social prosperity to the East of England, through our commitment to Love Every Drop. We have an ambitious £9bn 5-year capital investment programme (£3bn in @one) that aims to provide safe and resilient water supplies, support sustainable growth, enhance climate change resilience, and protect and improve the natural environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Be a strong leader and subject matter expert, working centrally and reporting to the Alliance Commercial Lead as part of the Commercial Team. You will provide central commercial management, support, and analysis for the IMR WR embedded alliance contract.
  • Demonstrate the highest levels of commercial integrity and financial self-assurance.
  • Support all areas across the embedded alliance with commercial management.
  • Manage commercial processes to maximize value and minimize future risks.
  • Provide transparent, accurate, and timely commercial reporting, working closely with the wider commercial team and other alliance teams.
  • Manage cashflows and payment curve calculations.
  • Support review of contract variations, NEC compensation events, and other partner events, and agree appropriate actions with the Commercial Lead.
  • Ensure adherence to internal governance to meet contractual and legal requirements.
  • Identify and deliver commercial process efficiencies.
  • Identify and manage financial and commercial risks using risk and opportunity management tools.

Experiences, Skills & qualifications required for the job:

  • Awareness of NEC3 forms of contract.
  • Experience working in a complex matrix team environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant construction and contract law.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Excellent data analysis and reporting skills.
  • Proven experience in Quantity Surveying.
  • Quantity Surveying Degree or equivalent.
  • Experience using SAP (Finance, Procurement, ALM).
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize workload to meet targets and deadlines.
  • Proactive and flexible approach to changing priorities.
  • Adapt communication style (written and verbal) for diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent understanding of Microsoft Office packages, with the ability to manipulate and present data clearly.
