Job summary

RLB International in Birmingham seeks a Cost Manager to join our Cost Management team. This permanent full‑time role offers hybrid working and exposure to high‑profile projects in the built environment.

You will support pre/post-contract QS duties, manage client relationships, and contribute to cost planning and financial control across multiple schemes, delivering value for money.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar technical discipline.
• MRICS or membership of other relevant professional body preferred.
• Strong technical delivery experience and ability to manage complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the Associate / Senior Cost Manager on projects.
• Pre and Post-Contract Quantity Surveying duties.
• Involvement in Pre-Construction cost planning and estimating.
• Involvement in Post-Contract financial management.
• The candidate will be an integral part of a team accountable for commercial and contractual performance.
• Building and maintaining client relationships.
• To support business objectives of delivering value for money in all circumstances.

Role Overview

We are currently recruiting a Cost Manager to join a client focused team based from our Birmingham office. This is an exciting opportunity to join and strengthen our Cost Management team.

This role presents an excellent opportunity for a proactive candidate to take responsibility for providing all core Quantity Surveying services on a number of interesting projects, for a number of clients across a variety of sectors.

Role Responsibilities

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive proactive approach to the role, and will be committed to delivering customer service excellence, with good commercial results.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar technical discipline
• MRICS or membership of other relevant professional body preferred

Experience

• Strong technical delivery experience
• Ability to successfully manage complex projects in a proactive and diligent manner
• Feasibility and cost planning experience
• Pre and Post contract experience of a range of schemes
• Experience of providing procurement advice, tender documentation and post contract services
• Stakeholder management with a clear focus on developing client accounts
• A track record of working with teams and managing projects by prioritising workloads and delivering deadlines
• Some experience / knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts
