Job description

Our continued success in delivering for many of the UK’s leading utility providers and major infrastructure developers is bringing significant growth across our team. If you care about your community and want to be involved in delivering improvements to the environment and infrastructure, then you may well be interested in the opportunities that we have coming up for Cost Intelligence Specialists within our Programme Management and Commercial Management team.

These roles can be based from any of our UK and Ireland offices, with hybrid working allowing for a mix of home and in-office working. Please note that at this stage we are inviting expressions of interest for a future role within our team.

As a Cost Intelligence Specialist within our Programme Management & Commercial Management (PMCM) team, you will work across major programmes with clients in the water and energy sectors, focusing on optimising the financial performance of major projects and programmes.

In this role, you will work closely with clients and stakeholders to deliver complex capital delivery programmes. Some key tasks include:

  1. Data Analysis: Collecting, analysing, and interpreting financial data to identify trends and variances, uncover cost reduction opportunities, and improve financial efficiency.
  2. Cost Modelling: Developing and maintaining detailed cost models to forecast expenses at asset and component levels, aiding in financial planning and resource allocation.
  3. Estimating: Using top-down tools for broad estimates and building detailed estimates from quotations and rates.
  4. Cost Challenge: Analyzing and optimizing processes, civil engineering, MEICA design, and construction methodologies to identify efficiencies and cost savings.
  5. Reporting: Preparing reports and dashboards that present findings and recommendations clearly for stakeholders.
  6. Risk and Dispute Management: Conducting risk assessments, developing mitigation strategies, and managing claims and disputes effectively to support stakeholder decisions.

As a senior team member, you will also be responsible for mentoring and guiding less experienced colleagues to support their professional development.

About You:

You should have experience leading complex commercial programs and cost intelligence initiatives, with strengths in cost modelling, estimating, and cost challenge. Prior experience in engineering, operations, or financial analysis, along with proficiency in data analysis tools like Excel, SQL, or Tableau, is essential. Experience in water, energy, or utility sectors is advantageous but not mandatory.
