The Opportunity

The UK infrastructure market remains one of the busiest (and most talent-hungry) areas of construction. In response to continued demand and ambitious plans for growth, one of the UK’s leading independent consultancies is looking to expand its Estimating team.

They’re looking for Estimators and Senior Estimators with a solid track record in the Infrastructure sector - Rail, Airports, Highways, Power, Water or Utilities - who enjoy the challenge of major capital projects and like to be part of a well-supported, collaborative team.

The Role

As part of the Estimating team, you’ll deliver a range of outputs to help clients make well-informed investment decisions. Depending on level, this will include:

• Producing accurate and comprehensive estimates and cost plans - from early-stage order of magnitude through to detailed first-principles build-ups
• Providing Estimating assurance and advice to clients and programme teams
• Supporting the set-up of Estimating functions for major programmes
• Analysing Estimating data to help inform future cost planning and benchmarking
• Contributing to the development and sharing of good practice in Estimating across the business

Senior Estimators will also take a lead on managing Estimating inputs across multi-disciplinary teams, liaising closely with project leadership and the client.

What they’re looking for

• Proven experience in Estimating within large infrastructure projects (Rail, Airports, Highways, Power, Water or Utilities)
• Strong technical Estimating capability - able to produce accurate outputs independently
• Previous experience of using Estimating software tools
• Strong communication and client-facing skills - able to explain and present Estimating approaches clearly
• Ideally qualified in Estimating or Quantity Surveying (and/or working towards chartered status - RICS / CIOB / ACostE)
• A collaborative mindset - this is a team that genuinely shares knowledge and supports career progression
