Job summary

Morson Edge are seeking a qualified Cost Engineer to join our client’s team on a major infrastructure project in Somerset. The role involves maintaining cost and forecast data, using CBS/WBS, EcoSys, SAP, and Power BI, and providing clear insights to support decision-making.

Contract position Inside IR35, site-based in Somerset with some remote days, reporting to the Senior Cost Engineer. You will contribute to governance, risk management, and timely reporting across the project.

Responsibilities

• Produce and maintain cost and forecast data aligned with CBS/WBS.
• Maintain cost data in EcoSys and SAP.
• Coordinate and produce cost and forecast reports with commentary on time-related drivers and performance issues.
• Assist in Trend & Change processes with analysis at project level to identify risks and opportunities.
• Deliver clear insights to support robust decision-making using technical and financial data.
• Provide analytical support to Senior Cost Engineers for prioritisation and actions.
• Promote governance, risk awareness and compliance across the organisation.

Location: Construction Site based and/or Somerset Energy & Innovation Centre, Bridgwater, Somerset x3 days per week AND 2x days per week remote working
Status: Contract (renewable) **Inside IR35** All-inclusive HIGHLY COMPETITIVE rates
Reports to: Senior Cost Engineer

Morson Edge are delighted to offer opportunities for suitably qualified and experienced Cost Engineers to join our clients established Team for work on a major infrastructure Project in Somerset. These are contract roles offered INSIDE IR35.

Principal Accountabilities

• Produce and maintain accurate cost and forecast data in alignment with the Cost Breakdown Structure or Work Breakdown Structure (CBS/WBS)
• Accurately maintain all Cost and Forecast data for their area of responsibility within the Cost and Forecast software system e.g. EcoSys, SAP
• Co-ordinate and produce Cost and Forecasting reports to a defined reporting cycle, including commentary on key time- related drivers and performance issues
• Assist in the Trend & Change process, including analysis at Project level, generating performance indicators and providing feedback on areas of risk and opportunities.
• Delivers clear and concise insights to support robust decision-making utilising commercial and technical information to influence decisions.
• Analytical support for Senior Cost Engineers through robust analysis and interpretation of technical, financial, and performance data to facilitate prioritisation and any necessary actions.
• Applying fundamental project and business project controls principles and interfaces with wider management processes.
• Help promote and embed a culture of good governance, risk awareness and compliance across the organisation.

• Understanding of project controls methodologies and techniques.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of HND or equivalent qualification in project management, project controls, engineering, or another related field
• Experience in a Project Management environment
• Demonstrable experience of working in a project controls discipline.
• Experience of working on a major construction project is desirable but not necessary
• Experience of working in the Nuclear Industry is desirable but not necessary
