About the Opportunity:
NRL is thrilled to be recruiting a talented Cost Engineer for our respected client in Gloucester. This exciting opportunity allows you to contribute to a high-profile project with a top-tier company, known for its outstanding reputation. What You’ll Be Doing:

  1. Provide cost engineering support to the portfolio, helping monitor, control, and forecast project costs throughout the full lifecycle.
  2. Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Programme Managers, and key stakeholders to ensure accurate financial planning and cost alignment with schedule and commercial objectives.
  3. Track, analyse and report cost data across multiple projects, producing intelligent and insightful monthly cost reports for senior leadership.
  4. Maintain a clear understanding of project scope and change, supporting change control and variance analysis activities.
  5. Reconcile cost information in relation to project timelines, using tools such as Primavera, SAP Finance, and other project controls systems.
  6. Support estimating and risk assessment efforts, ensuring accurate and timely input into the wider project controls strategy.
  7. Participate in project and framework-level reviews, contributing to performance improvement, compliance, and delivery assurance.
  8. Work across a multi-location team, developing strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and client representatives to drive best-value outcomes.

What You’ll Need:

  1. A HNC/HND in a relevant cost, finance, or engineering discipline—or equivalent project-based experience; MACostE membership is desirable.
  2. Solid experience across the full project lifecycle, ideally gained within a complex, regulated sector such as nuclear, energy, or infrastructure.
  3. Proficient with financial and project management systems, including Primavera (latest version) and SAP Finance and Project modules.
  4. Strong understanding of the inter-relationship between time, cost, and commercial performance.
  5. Capable of using estimating, scheduling, and risk tools to support strategic project decisions.
  6. Hands-on experience with Earned Value Analysis (EVA) and the ability to present findings clearly to key stakeholders.
  7. Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and organisational skills.
  8. A proactive, team-oriented approach with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and performance excellence.
