Cost Engineer (x2) Location: Hull (on-site)
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: 37.5 per week (Full-Time)
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: Dependent on experience

The opportunity

A leading engineering and maintenance provider is looking to appoint two experienced Cost Engineers for permanent roles based on-site in Hull. These are full-time positions supporting large-scale industrial works, with the opportunity to contribute to cost control, forecasting, subcontractor management, and commercial performance across complex engineering environments.

Your duties and responsibilities will be

  • Produce financial reports to support monthly profit and loss (P&L) reporting
  • Re-measure and validate updates to the Bill of Quantities (BOQ)
  • Forecast actuals versus budget and report variances
  • Carry out risk analysis (best case, worst case, most likely scenarios)
  • Manage cost accruals across subcontractors, plant, and materials
  • Analyse weekly cost data using SAP and Power BI
  • Maintain full awareness of all subcontract agreements
  • Administer Early Warning Notices from subcontractors
  • Support cost value reconciliation and forecasting
  • Review, respond to, and track Compensation Events and change control
  • Prepare data for payment applications
  • Facilitate subcontractor meetings and progress reviews
  • Negotiate and agree subcontractor valuations and payment certifications
  • Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts
  • Perform audits of subcontractor claims, rates, and progress
  • Identify opportunities to improve margins through cost efficiencies

You will have the following qualifications and experience

  • Strong working knowledge of NEC4 Option B contracts
  • Understanding of the NAECI Agreement
  • Experience on major construction or engineering projects
  • Familiarity with Standard Method of Measurement (SMM)
  • Commercially focused with strong analytical and reporting skills
  • Proficient in tools such as SAP and Power BI

Additional Information

  • Site-based role in Hull, Monday to Friday
  • Living away allowance of GBP355.67/week for those based more than 45 miles from site
  • Overtime available depending on project requirements
