Job summary

NUVIA UK in Glasgow is seeking a Cost Engineer to join our hybrid team. You will work with the Project Manager to forecast, monitor, and report project costs, ensuring affordability and timely month-end outputs.

The role involves cost control, analytics, and contract administration using CEMAR; NEC familiarity is preferred. The position offers a hybrid work pattern with flexibility, a salary up to £55,000 depending on experience, and opportunities to contribute to national critical

Qualifications

  • Detailed knowledge of cost engineering and cost forecasting.
  • Experience in cost forecasting aligned to programme objectives.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
  • Good presentation and reporting abilities.
  • Diploma level education is required.
  • 2+ years in cost management preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support forecast development with Project Manager for monthly reporting.
  • Consolidate accruals and report costs for PMs.
  • Coordinate with Planner to align forecasts with programme.
  • Track costs and forecasts for affordability.
  • Produce monthly cost reports and update financial systems.
  • Attend supplier meetings and manage contract administration.
  • Process purchase orders and invoice receipt tasks.
  • Review invoices and support resolution of queries.
  • Monitor changes and change control/ EWN meetings.

Responsibilities:

To work with the Project manager to provide informed forecast and prepare the project for month end reporting.

  • Work with the Project Manager(s) to provide informed forecasts for the Project (for the Financial Year and Project Lifecycle)
  • Consolidation of accruals and reporting to Finance on behalf of PMs
  • Collaborate with the Project Planner to ensure forecasts are informed and aligned to the programme.
  • Review and Track Costs and Forecasts to ensure and demonstrate continued affordability.
  • Produce Cost Reporting Outputs in a timely manner for month end reporting, inputting into all relevant internal financial systems.
  • Attending monthly supplier Project Meetings and carry out associated contract administration as required, via CEMAR.
  • Raise purchase and contract requisitions and occasionally receipting invoices within the relevant internal system.
  • Assessment and checking on invoices and valuations and providing advice to PM to resolve invoice queries.
  • Monitoring cost against change and attendance of the change control/EWN meetings
Profile

Experienced Required:

  • Ability to communicate cost and performance information to peers/project managers/stakeholders in a way that is understood by all.
  • Detailed working knowledge of cost engineering functions, cost control and cost analysis.
  • Experience of working in a wider Project Controls team, understanding the importance of aligning the cost forecast to the Programme.
  • Detail-oriented and organised, with experience of identifying, analysing, and solving problems.
  • Good presentation and reporting skills.
  • Educated to diploma level.
  • Ideally 2+ years’ experience in cost management.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Diploma level educated.
  • Relevant Professional Membership or working towards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • CEMAR experience
  • NEC experience, preferred.
