The role – what is it we would like you to do?

Currie & Brown is currently looking for a cost consultant / senior cost consultant to join our northwest team, based on-site with our client in south Manchester 4 days a week.

The successful candidate will support project leaders in delivering high-quality service, achieving successful client outcomes, sharing knowledge across projects, fostering innovation, and reinforcing our reputation across projects such as industrial, commercial fit-out, life sciences, pharma, or infrastructure.

Your core duties will involve:

  • Providing accurate cost advice and reporting to clients
  • Delivering projects, commissions, and professional assignments
  • Setting objectives and priorities, working proactively as part of a team
  • Maintaining effective communication for project success; liaising with managers for financial control
  • Undertaking commercial management services with limited supervision
  • Ensuring timely and accurate work outputs
  • Supporting the team leader/service leaders in cost management
  • Representing the company professionally; meeting, negotiating, and building strong client relationships

What skills and attributes are we looking for from you

  • BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
  • Experience in the private commercial sector, including offices, residential, hospitality, major projects, fit-out, and refurbishment
  • Proficiency in CostX or other cost planning software
  • Experience with NEC4 and CEMAR
  • Pre- and post-contract experience
  • Strong technical writing, client-facing, and communication skills
  • Well-organized, diligent, proactive, assertive, and commercially savvy
  • A team player with a positive attitude, outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable, respectful, and flexible
