Responsibilities
  • Review and maintain the company's balance sheets and general ledger with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy across all financial records.
  • Establish standard costs for products or services by analysing associated expenses and collaborating with relevant departments to gather comprehensive data.
  • Update standard costs regularly based on changing expenses, market conditions, and organisational requirements to ensure financial information remains current.
  • Analyse organisational data including rates of labour, depreciation, and overheads, then recommend policy amendments that enhance overall financial performance.
  • Prepare monthly or quarterly reports for senior management using inventory reserve analyses, presenting findings in an accessible format for strategic decision-making.
  • Submit detailed accounting reports to management every month or quarter, highlighting key trends and actionable insights for continuous improvement.
  • Guide accounting clerical staff by answering queries, coordinating activities, and fostering an environment of teamwork and shared learning.
Experience Required
  • Demonstrated experience in cost accounting or managerial accounting within a large organisation or public accounting firm is essential for success in this role.
  • Proficiency in reviewing balance sheets and maintaining general ledgers with high levels of accuracy is required.
  • Strong analytical skills enabling you to assess fixed and variable costs effectively when determining total manufacturing expenses.
