Job description

THE POSITION

Are you interested in using your food industry experience in an institutional setting? Do you want to lead a large-scale food service and help rehabilitating inmates learn valuable skills? The Department of Corrections (DOC), State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Camp Hill is seeking an energetic and self-motivated Corrections Food Service Supervisor. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Food Service Supervisor, you will oversee Corrections Food Service Instructors and inmate workers in routine and specialized tasks in food service operations. You will inspect food service areas, equipment, and food to ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards. You will approve requisitions for food supplies and equipment, submit reports on tool inventory, safety, and production. You will establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and inmates, implement work processes that support efficient food service, and provide instruction in therapeutic and religious diet menus. You will also adjust recipes to reduce food waste and exercise care, custody, and control over inmates at all times. Additional details can be found in the position description.

Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with rotating days off
  • Telework: Not available for this position
  • Salary: Starting salary may be non-negotiable in some cases
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

Qualifications

  • One year of experience as a Corrections Food Service Instructor or equivalent Federal job title, as determined by the Office of Administration; or
  • Three years of experience in food preparation, production, or service in an institutional or large-scale food operation, including one year of lead work; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training, including one year of lead work.

Additional Requirements

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA
  • Ability to perform essential job functions
