Job description

Based in our London Corporate Tax team, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing a diverse client portfolio, encompassing the delivery of both corporate tax compliance and advisory services. This is a challenging and interesting client-facing role, which will include exposure to a range of both UK and international clients.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join the fast-growing tax group that handles the corporate tax aspects of the firm’s Film, Television, and video game clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing corporate tax advisory and compliance engagements.

Our clients include all the major Hollywood studios, major streaming networks, as well as many independent film and television production companies in the US and UK. We also work with many other entities ancillary to film and television production, such as film financiers, visual effects and post-production houses, and other service providers. Finally, we work with a number of video game developers ranging from small independents to large multi-national studios.

The responsibilities

Frequently dealing with challenging technical issues, the role will encompass the following areas amongst others:

  1. Responsibility for the delivery of tax reporting and compliance engagements, including tax accounting, across a portfolio of F&TV corporate tax clients.
  2. Conducting detailed technical research and responding to ad-hoc technical queries from clients and other teams.
  3. Helping to identify advisory opportunities for your client portfolio.
  4. Supervising, mentoring, and reviewing the work of junior team members.
  5. Advising on the operation of the creative sector tax reliefs and how clients can structure their productions to obtain maximum benefit.
  6. Advising on a range of technical areas depending on experience and interest, such as: complex capital allowances claims, R&D tax relief, transfer pricing, Substantial Shareholdings Exemption, Controlled Foreign Companies, Corporate Interest Restriction, Withholding Tax, and Double Taxation Relief, with support from specialist colleagues where required.

The team

The Film & TV group is a leading advisor to this sector, with a wide client list including some of the world’s largest and most successful Film, TV, Video Game, and Sports companies.

You will be part of an industry-focused team within a wider national Corporate Tax team, comprising 9 Tax Partners and over 110 tax professionals.

You

Experience working with clients in the F&TV sector is not essential, but an interest in this industry is preferable. The role suits an ACA/CTA qualified individual with several years of post-qualification experience in corporation tax.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Strong UK tax technical skills.
  • The ability to analyze tax technical queries and provide robust advice and solutions.
  • Project management skills, including planning, prioritizing work, meeting deadlines, and monitoring budgets.
  • Responsibility for work quality and delivery.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A client-focused approach and commitment to building strong relationships.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Coaching and mentoring skills to develop team members.

The firm offers training and support to develop your specialist knowledge and capabilities, with scope for quick progression within the team for the right individual.

Reward and benefits

  • Hybrid working policy, allowing up to three days per week from home.
  • Excellent benefits including contributory pension, 25 days' annual leave, Life Assurance, flexible benefits, and family-friendly policies.
  • Eligibility for the Profit-Sharing Plan, paid in December.
  • Eligibility for the discretionary bonus scheme.
